Voluntary Critical Illness Insurance is critical illness insurance offered through a group plan at one’s place of employment, that you decide whether or not you want to purchase for you and/or your family. If your employer provides some critical illness insurance to you, it is the amount above that portion that your employer provides free of charge.

Voluntary Critical Illness Insurance is coverage offered through the place of business at group rates. The employee may voluntarily purchase the critical illness policy and pay for it 100% from their own funds, or the employer and employee may split the cost in some way. It pays a lump sum to the employee if they should develop one of the illnesses listed in the policy.
