If you have renters insurance and your nice dog bite someone then you can call your insurance company and file a claim if the other person contact you regarding medical bills. Dog bite is very common in home and renters insurance claims. You have to remember if this happens again the insurance compay may send you a non renewal based on the exposure. Good Luck

It depends on the company, but generally yes. However, most companies will have a list of dogs commonly called “vicious animal / dog” clause that either won’t provide liability coverage or excludes coverage for people with that type of animal. A lot of types a person that has a dog like that you won’t be able to get coverage, but it really depends. The best thing to do would to call your agent and have them explain exactly what the policy covers.
