   Not everyone with ESRD is covered by Medicare, but if you are eligible Medicare will be the primary payer in the following situations.

   If Medicare is your only health insurance, Medicare is primary.

   If you have coverage through an employer group health plan, that plan is primary (if there are 20 or more employees) during a 30 month COB period. At the end of the COB period Medicare is primary.
