   There are very few companies that sell individual short term disability insurance. Most short term disability insurance is sold and purchased on a group basis. Contact a DI broker such as myself or others on this website to see what individual disability insurance policies might be available to you.

   A licensed broker or agent, who holds a health license can sell Individual Short Term Disability Insurance. When you look at purchasing Disability Insurance be sure you understand how the company defines “own” occupation. There is a difference which can make the difference on your ability to work or not.

   Be sure to understand the provisions on partial disability as well.
