   The states that offer Short Term Disability benefits are California, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. California offers Short Term Disability that can last up to one year. New York requires most employers to offer Short Term Disability coverage. 

   New Jersey, Rhode Island and Hawaii offer Temporary Disability (TD) benefits.
