The type of cancers that are covered by a critical illness policy depends on the policy stipulations. However, cancer that is non-invasive (such as skin cancer) or at a very low stage, is the type of cancer that is normally excluded from Critical Illness policies. They generally cover cancer that needs treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.

Critical Illness coverage can vary depending upon the policy but as a general rule it is internal, life threatening cancer including leukemia and lymphoma.  Cancer only policies may also offer coverage for skin cancers in addition to internal cancer. The outline of coverage for any policy you may be considering should give the details as to what is covered.
