Today’s cars are mostly equipped with smartkeys, and the related technology can drive the cost of replacing them up to as much as $500. This higher cost has led to the advent of a coverage plan that can be purchased as a rider to base insurance plans. A large percentage of these riders come without a deductible, making them more desirable to customers. Unless the plan offers base coverage for keys, these riders are just about must-haves. To do anything else may mean an out of pocket expense not planned for.
