Standard Auto Insurance providers file a set of underwriting rules and guidelines with each state’s Insurance Department. If your record or driving history falls outside those filed standards, it is possible that you would be denied coverage. However, in most if not all cases, there are various “non standard” coverage alternatives. First, and most expensive usually, is your state’s “Assigned Risk Pool” Since states require that you have insurance i order to register a car, a solution to individual company’s underwriting standards was to require that tehy participate in such a pool. These days however, there are a number of companies who offer non standard policies so the availability is much broader. YOu will be able to find coverage, you will just need to be prepared to pay more for it.

A particular Auto Insurance company can deny you Auto Insurance, if you have shown a pattern of not having continuous coverage or have too many points on your record. An Insurance can cancel your policy for the same reason. A broker will be able to find an insurance company to take you or at the very least help you in to your state’s insurance program.
