   There are several types of annuities, and all have a financial purpose. These types are based on different criteria.

   Time of Payout: Immediate or Deferred
   Payment Type: Single Premium or Flexible Premium
   Investment Type: Fixed, Indexed or Variable
   Liquidity Options: Withdrawal Penalties or No Withdrawal Penalties

   Financial annuities is a term that would most likely encompass all of these.
