Up to a point, yes. Carriers will charge more for your health insurance if you add on a spouse and children (dependents). How many children you add as dependents can affect how much you pay for your health insurance. However, once a family size reaches a certain point, the coverage increases based on the number of dependents stops.
For example, carrier A may say if you have 3 or more kids, it’ll be the same price as only having 3 kids. If you have 5 kids, you may only have to pay the amount as if you had 3 kids. Some carriers may make this 2 or more, some 4 or more – it just depends on the carrier.
Make sure when you’re gathering quotes, you look at these specific items if you have a lot of children as your question indicates. It’s most helpful to work with an independent health agent who can compare multiple options for you (and in the process save you a ton of time on research and effort trying to understand the stuff).
Our group is licensed with a number of carriers and we do not charge any fees for our services so if you’d like some assistance with your coverage, feel free to e-mail me or give me a call – you can see my contact information via my profile page link. I hope the information is helpful.
Thanks very much.
