Medicare will cover a hip replacement surgery when if your symptoms have not responded to other treatments and it is deemed medically necessary. Medicare part B covers outpatient surgery, doctor visits, post-operative physical therapy, and durable medical equipment but only pays 80%. A Medicare supplement can cover the 20% and a medicare advantage plan could have fixed costs instead of the 20% as well as a maximum out of pocket limit (MOOP).

Age not being a factor, depends on if you’re admitted into the hospital as an inpatient on whether or not you would have to meet the part A deductible, you would be subject to the part B deductible and then it would depend on the type of coverage you have .Is it part C or is it a Medicare supplement and which particular plan. If It is medically necessary Medicare will pay for hip replacement surgery at age 75. Age is not the determining factor but whether or not the surgery is medically necessary. Hopefully, your doctor would not want you to go through this type of surgery if it wasn’t medically necessary.
