If you have a standardized original Medicare plan like say an “F” plan you can change your plan anytime during the calendar year. However, you will be required to go through underwriting to qualify for the new company plan. Medicare Advantage plans are the plans where you are restricted to only change plans during the open enrollment period which for 2014 runs from October 15 to December 7.
